A Personal
Prayer
Lord, you know
I am growing older. Keep me from becoming talkative and possessed
with the idea that I must express myself on every subject. Release
me from craving to straighten out everyone's affairs.
Keep me from
the recital of endless detail. Give me strength to get to the
point.
Seal my lips
when I am inclined to tell of my aches and pains. They are
increasing with the passing years, and the love to speak of them
grows sweeter as time goes by.
Make me
thoughtful, but not nosy. Helpful, but not bossy.
With my vast
store of wisdom and experiences, it does seem a pity not to use it
at all.
But you know,
Lord, that I want a few friends in the end.
Amen.
Ann Landers
"There are
three problems with growing old---
The first is
that your memory gets worse,
and I can't
remember the other two"
Anonymous
"I didn't
retire; I went on PPV (permanent paid vacation)"
